TIPS & TECH DATA | REEF RUNNER LURES

Carefully Crafted and Built to Last

Here are a just a few suggestions or guidelines to get you started on your selection of baits:

WHAT SIZE OF LURE SHOULD YOU USE?

Try and “Match the Hatch”: This means if the fish you’re targeting are feeding on smaller prey try a smaller lure. This can depend on seasonal growth of bait fish.

WHAT COLOR LURE SHOULD YOU USE?

The “Color Debate”: We like to use colors that we are confident in. For the most part clear water equals natural colors such as pearls, whites, metallics and purples. Dark or brackish water equals fluorescent colors such as chartreuse, orange and pinks. Other go to colors in muddy water are whites and blacks.

WHAT SPEED TO FISH AT?

Adjust your speed and depth accordingly, keeping in mind the fish will give you the answer! When in doubt—speed up!

You’ll find a depth chart below which shows the approximate diving ranges for each lure.  Experiment!!  Have fun!!  Enjoy the science of fishing!!

TUNING A CRANK BAIT

Tuning a Crank bait – If your bait should be knocked “out-of-tune” slightly bend the front eyelet. If lure is running to the right bend eyelet to the left… conversely, if running to the left bend eyelet to the right.

DEEP DIVING LURES

Make sure you fit the slot the Tune-A-Fish in a vertical (upright) position.

Holding the Tuner with your thumb on one side and three fingers on the other. Slightly bend the eyelet to the left if the lure is running to the right. If the lure is running to the left, bend the eyelet to the right.

IMPORTANT – Use very slight adjustments and DO NOT TWIST!

SHALLOW DIVING LURES

Make sure you fit the slot the Tune-A-Fish in a horizontal position.

Holding the Tuner with your thumb and index finger in the recessed area. Slightly bend the eyelet to the left if the lure is running to the right. If the lure is running to the left, bend the eyelet to the right.

IMPORTANT – Use very slight adjustments and DO NOT TWIST!
